Getting started

What is Bonus Edge?

Bonus Edge helps US bettors turn sportsbook sign-up bonuses and promos into low-risk, maths-based profit using maths (matched betting, +EV and dutching) rather than luck. You place a bet at a sportsbook and a covering bet on an exchange or a second book, so you lock in a profit whichever way the event goes. We show you the offers in your state and the exact stakes to place.

How do I get started?

Open the Start Here page. It walks you through the welcome offers available in your state, one at a time, with the recommended bankroll, difficulty and time for each. Pick the top offer, follow the steps, and use the Matcher Calculator to see exactly how much to stake where. Your first offer usually takes about 10 minutes.

How much money do I need to start?

Most welcome offers work with a bankroll of $50–$300 depending on the book. Each offer card shows a recommended bankroll so you never have to guess. Your stake isn't a cost — matched betting covers both outcomes, so the money comes back plus the locked profit.

Which states does Bonus Edge work in?

It works in states with legal, regulated online sportsbooks. When you set your state during onboarding, we show only the books and offers available to you and mark the ones you already hold. If online sports betting isn't live in your state yet, there won't be offers to work.

Is it safe?

Is this legal?

Yes. Matched betting is simply using publicly-advertised promotions the way the books offer them, and betting at licensed, regulated sportsbooks in states where online betting is legal. You must be 21+ (or your state's legal age). It is not a scam or a loophole — it's disciplined use of sign-up offers.

Is my money at risk?

The method is built to minimise risk: for each offer you place a bet and a covering bet so you profit (or roughly break even on the qualifier) whichever outcome hits. The main things to get right are placing both legs and using fresh odds — the tools handle the maths. As with anything involving money, only use funds you can afford to tie up, and bet responsibly (21+, 1-800-GAMBLER).

Will the sportsbooks ban me?

Books may eventually limit accounts of consistently sharp bettors — that's normal. The By The Book guides flag how quickly each book tends to limit, and the advice is to bank the welcome value early and keep your betting looking natural. Limiting reduces future promo value; it does not put your existing balance at risk.

Are winnings taxable?

In the US, gambling winnings can be taxable and rules vary by state and situation. Bonus Edge is an educational tool, not a tax or financial advisor — keep your own records and check with a professional if you're unsure.

Tools

What is a bonus bet / SNR, and how do I convert it?

A bonus bet (often 'stake not returned', SNR) is a free bet where you keep the winnings but not the stake. You 'convert' it to cash by backing a selection at the book and laying it on an exchange, so you keep a high percentage (typically ~70%) of its face value as real cash. The Matcher Calculator does this for you: pick the bet type, load a match, and it shows the exact lay stake and your locked profit either way.

What tools does Bonus Edge have?

The main ones are the Matcher Calculator / Converter (turn a bonus into cash), the Oddsmatcher (find close back/lay matches), the Arbitrage Finder, the Profit Boost Matcher, a Tracker for your projected and realised profit, and free public calculators (dutching, hedge, odds converter, EV). Some advanced tools are gated to paid tiers.

Account & billing

What's the difference between the free and paid tiers?

The free tier lets you make a real start — onboarding, the Start Here journey, the core converter and calculators, and the offers in your state. Paid tiers unlock wider book coverage and the advanced tools (e.g. the full arbitrage and boost finders). You can work your first offers and see real value before paying anything.

How do I get help or give feedback?

Use the Help & Feedback button (bottom-right of any page). Ask the assistant a question for an instant answer, or send feedback / a bug report / a feature request and the team will follow up by email. Account-specific and billing questions always go to a human.
